Hotmail.com which is presently known as outlook.com is a web-based piece of webmail, contacts, tasks, and calendaring services from Microsoft. It is one of the global first webmail. It is very user friendly and hence adopted world-wide. Many a times users face issue of Hotmail not responding which creates lot of frustration. Step 1: Open Hotmail in safe mode

Close Hotmail.

Go to start, select Run, type Hotmail /safe, and select OK.

Close Hotmail, and then try opening it normally.
 

Step 2: Clear browser cache and cookies

Press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL on your browser to open the dialogue box and select the desired option to clear cache and cookies.

Step 3: Check if there is a dialogue box open

Check for all open dialog boxes using Alt+Tab which will help you switch from window to window.

If there are any open dialogue boxes

Hotmail won’t proceed until and unless the dialogue box is closed. So select the desired action and close the dialogue box

Step 4: Hotmail processing a large process

If you have given a tedious and bulky command for e.g. selecting and deleting large number of emails then Hotmail is processing in background and may hang or freeze

Check the status bar of Hotmail and give Hotmail some time to finish the process

Step 5: Updating windows and office

Use the setting to update windows automatically, download and install latest recommended updates and bug fixes.

This will enhance the performance and give access to new features

Step 6: Repair your Office programs

Close all Office programs that are running

Open Control Panel, choose Programs and Features.

In the list of installed programs, right-click Microsoft Office 2016 or Microsoft Office 2013, and then select Change.

Step 7: Repair your Hotmail data files

Use inbox repair tool to resolve Hotmail data files and recovery errors. Inbox Repair Tool (SCANSPST.EXE) is installed automatically while installing Office.

Step 8: Create a new user profile

Close Hotmail

Open control panel, select mail and then select show profiles.

For Windows 10, select Start. Type Control Panel and press Enter. Select User Accounts > Mail >Show Profiles.

Choose Add, and make a new profile

Enter an email address and a password for the primary email account you use in Hotmail

After the profile is created, find Show Profiles dialog and select prompt for a profile to be used.

Open your Hotmail with new profile.
